Challenge
Develop a strategy for an innovation team to reduce the scope 3 financed emissions from private clients (mortgage portfolio). Emissions are an intangible concept and the client was struggling to set a strong narrative where innovation efforts should be focussed on.

Solution
I created a series of visualisations that showed which activities generate emissions and also counted as scope 3 emission reduction. The orange circle (image 1) represents all emissions from a household, while the blue circle represents the scope 3 financed emissions of the mortgage portfolio. These are the emissions generated through the energy consumption of the house. The conclusion was that in order to reduce scope 3 financed emissions the team needed to focus innovation efforts in or around the house (image 2). This way the team was able to have a focussed discussion on where innovation should occur the coming years for a sustainable future (image 3).
